Umm al-Fahm residents lay to rest Palestinian killed by Israeli police

Tuesday 21-August-2018

Dozens of Palestinian citizens marched in Umm al-Fahm city in the 1948 occupied Palestine at dawn Tuesday to bid farewell to Ahmad Mahamid who was killed by the Israeli police in Jerusalem last Friday.

The Israeli police on Monday evening informed Mahamid’s family that they will hand over his body at 1:00 am Tuesday without conditions.

The police decision followed a petition field by Adalah Center for Human Rights on behalf of Mahamid’s family after the Israeli police demanded that the number of Palestinians participating in the funeral be limited to 50 and ordered Mahamid’s family to pay a 100000 NIS bail.

Tension has flared up in Umm al-Fahm since Friday after the Israeli police killed Mahamid over an alleged attempt to stab an Israeli soldier and arrested three Palestinian youths on charges of assisting him.
