Palestinians living in the unrecognized Umm al-Hiran village in Negev sounded cries for help over Israeli attempts to knock down their own and only homes.
The cries were launched after the Israeli army stormed the village in an attempt to knock down two Palestinian homes paving the way for other upcoming demolitions.
The projected demolitions make part of an Israeli scheme of ethnic cleansing aiming to uproot Umm al-Hiran village and deport its native Palestinian residents so as to set the stage for the construction of an Israeli village bearing Hiran name.
Head of Umm al-Hiran local commission Raed Abu al-Qiaan said: “After the locals stood on their guard to the assault and closed the main entrance to the village the Israeli troops backtracked and were stationed at a nearby site.”
“We appeal to our leadership and people to stand by our side. Our only homes are threatened with demolition. Umm al-Hiran is crying for help” said the activist.
A home to 2200 Palestinians the unrecognized Umm al-Hiran village is located in the Wadi Atir area to the northeast of Houra town. Two Palestinian communities—Atir and Umm al-Hiran—have set up roots in the area hundreds of years ago.
