The Venezuelan National Assembly in a regular session held on Thursday voted unanimously on a resolution dubbed the “Agreement of Solidarity with the State and People of Palestine” on the occasion of the 74th Nakba anniversary.
The agreement which also reiterates the Venezuelan legislative authority’s condemnation of Israel’s killing of Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh has urged the world’s parliaments to form a joint front to support the Palestinian cause and demand international institutions to enforce the UN resolutions on the Palestinian people’s national rights especially their right to return to their country.
Addressing the session lawmaker Bussy Galeano who introduced the resolution on behalf of the Venezuela-Palestine parliamentary friendship group said that Israel had worked for 74 years on demonizing the Palestinian people and suppressing their legitimate struggle for the liberation of their land.
She described the Nakba as a “catastrophe against humanity that has been done by the fascist Zionist movement against an entire people.”
Other lawmakers also delivered speeches that slammed Israel’s colonialist and criminal practices in Palestine and voiced support for the just Palestinian cause and Venezuela’s national efforts to back the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights.
