Friday 26-May-2017

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) at dawn Friday assaulted Palestinian citizens and arrested others during campaigns in different West Bank areas.

Local sources told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that dozens of citizens including children suffered from inhaling tear gas inside a hospital in Qalqilya city during clashes with local young men.

They explained that the events started after Israeli soldiers raided homes and maltreated their residents near the UNRWA Hospital in the city.

They added that the soldiers intensively fired volleys of tear gas grenades in the area which led to suffocation cases among citizens and patients inside the hospital especially children at the pediatric unit.

Three paramedics were also exposed to tear gas as they were at the emergency section of the hospital and provided with medical assistance.

Fumes also spread to other neighborhoods far from the hospital because of the intensity of tear gas used by the soldiers during the clashes.

The clashes also expanded to the vicinity of the soccer stadium in the city where a teenager suffered a rubber bullet injury and was rushed to Darwish Nazzal Hospital.

In Ramallah the IOF kidnapped Sheikh Bassam Hammad from his home in Silwad town. He is a father of two prisoners and one martyr.

The IOF also raided homes and assaulted citizens at dawn in Ya’bad town south of Jenin.

The PIC was told that dozens of Israeli troops stormed the house of Sheikh Izzuddin Amarneh a blind mosque imam in Ya’bad and rounded up his 16-year-old son Mujahed.

Sheikh Amarneh had spent more than six months in Israeli jails and the IOF kidnapped recently his elder son and his daughter from the house.

In Tulkarem violent clashes broke out at dawn after the IOF stormed the main city and the refugee camps of Tulkarem and Nur Shams.

Local sources reported that the IOF raided homes in the camps of Tulkarem and Nur Shams and interrogated citizens.

They added that Israeli troops clashed with young men in different areas of Tulkarem city and spread in particular in its eastern neighborhood.
