Wa’ed Society for Detainees and Ex-Detainees has accused the Israeli prison service (IPS) of refusing to provide medical treatment for cancer-stricken prisoner Walid Daqqa who has been suffering from rare blood cancer for nearly two months.
In a statement on Thursday Wa’ed Society explained that the IPS sent prisoner Daqqa from Barzilai hospital to Ashkelon jail and refused to keep him in any a suitable place to receive medical care.
According to the Palestinian Commission of Detainees’ and Ex-Detainees’ Affairs prisoner Daqqa suffers from growing pains all over his body and is in constant need of blood units.
The Commission said that the IPS deliberately delays providing him with his needs of blood units despite his fellow prisoners’ readiness to donate blood to him.
In a separate incident an Israeli court sentenced prisoner Barakat Shuraim from Jenin refugee camp to 20 months in jail and fined him 3000 shekels on allegations of his involvement in resistance activities.
According to Asra Media Office the Israeli occupation forces kidnaped Shuraim on March 31 2022 after breaking into and ransacking his home. He was interrogated for about one month at the Jalamah detention center.
Israeli courts also ordered the imprisonment of Yazan Daraghmeh a 22-year-old university student from Lubban ash-Sharqiya village in Nablus and Qusay Shaqour from Salfit for eight and 13 months respectively. They were also ordered to pay financial penalties.
