Warnings of the dangerous health condition of Abu Atwan

Monday 5-July-2021

The Palestinian Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs warned on Monday of the serious health condition of Ghadanfar Abu Atwan 28 who is continuing his open hunger strike for the 62nd consecutive day in refusal of his administrative detention in Israeli prisons.

The authority stated in a press statement that Abu Atwan suffers from fluid deficiency in his body as he announced that he would refrain from drinking water.

It added that Abu Atwan still refuses to receive any supplements as he lost 15 kilograms of his weight and his heartbeats became unstable and he is unable to move.

The Israeli occupation authorities refuse to release him or allow him to be transferred to a Palestinian hospital.

The authority expressed fears that the Israeli medical staff would force-feed him which is a violation of his rights under all international laws because any medical intervention in the Israeli hospital will only prolong his suffering.

It called on the International Committee of the Red Cross and all human rights and humanitarian institutions to visit Abu Atwan and to intervene urgently to save his life before it is too late.

In a leaked letter for the hunger-striking prisoner he said that he was facing “slow death” in the Israeli hospital adding “Save my life”.
