Civil society organizations on Tuesday announced the suspension of work in their institutions in the West Bank from 9 am to 11 am in protest at the Palestinian government’s decision to slash salaries of Gaza employees.
In a joint statement the NGOs said they would organize a sit-in outside the headquarters of the cabinet in Ramallah on Tuesday morning to demand the government to backtrack on its step.
They stressed the need to rally a popular position against the measure because of its serious political implications.
They said they would launch a program of national activities to oppose the decision and pressure the government to revoke it.
