Secretary-general of Hezbollah Hasan Nasrallah has condemned US president Donald Trump’s decision over the Syrian Golan Height as “contempt for the international community their resolutions and the Arab and Islamic worlds.”
In a televised speech on Tuesday Nasrallah warned the US administration could next choose to recognize Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank unless the Arab world hastens to take action.
“When the entire world allows [US president Donald] Trump to declare Jerusalem as Israel’s eternal capital and especially the Arab world remains silent this opens the way for all US violations” he said.
The Lebanese leader underscored the US administration have no respect for international institutions and only uses them to serve its own policies and interests affirming that Trump’s decision on the Golan Heights and previously on Jerusalem confirmed that such international institutions cannot protect any right of any people.
He described Trump’s move as “a crucial turning point in the history of the Arab-Israeli conflict” adding that Trump dealt “a knockout punch to what is called the peace process in the region.”
He called on the Arab League to take action at a summit at the end of the month in Tunis and revoke the Arab peace initiative.
