The wife of hunger-striking prisoner Khalil Awawdeh has launched an urgent appeal to save her husband’s life and pressure Israeli jailers to release him after over 150 days of hunger strike warning that he might die any moment.
The prisoner’s wife Dalal Awawdeh told al-Quds website on Saturday that Khalil was transferred last Wednesday urgently from the Ramla prison infirmary to Assaf Harofeh Hospital after a sharp decline in his health condition but he was taken back to Ramla jail despite his need to stay in the hospital.
Dalal added that Israeli jailers told him to break his hunger strike and accept to receive medication and vitamins if he wanted to remain in the Assaf Harofeh Hospital affirming that her husband rejects such blackmail and is determined to continue his hunger strike until his demands are met.
She accused the Israeli prosecution and intelligence apparatuses of trying to kill her husband after they alleged that his health condition was under control and ignored an official hospital report warning of his exposure to sudden death any moment.
Awawdeh a father of four was kidnaped on December 27 2021 and then held under administrative detention – a tool used by the Israeli occupation authority in order to jail Palestinians for several months without charge or trial and extend their detention indefinitely.
