With colorful nails and strings: Riman paints

Sunday 2-December-2018

Often people find out about beautiful things by accident and never realize that they would possess or invent them to become their own passion just like the ecstasy of a dream achieved after many days of prayer and seeking.

Destiny led the Palestinian young woman Riman Massoud to discover her professional path in the art of painting with nails and threads producing beautiful paintings which speak of a talent that provokes the imagination.

Riman a 21-year-old refugee of the southern Lebanese city of Sidon did not know that the thread nail and hammer tools that are always available in any house would be a turning point in her life.

Riman told Alawda News Agency: “Almost a year ago on Facebook I saw a photo of a board made of nails and threads and at the time my friend’s birthday was approaching. I thought of giving her a gift made by me. She liked the gift very much and even encouraged me to go ahead and make more paintings with nails and threads as she saw the idea of the painting as beautiful and innovative.”

Riman tries to express her feelings about issues events and many things that she loves and cares about such as the issue of her occupied country (Palestine) and the steadfast Palestinian people where she has prepared some paintings that depict the issues of Palestinian women and adhering to rights. Riman also prepared another painting on the occasion of the Lebanese Independence Day and presented it to the Commander of the Lebanese Army in addition to other paintings of various subjects.

“I started promoting my artwork on social media and I was encouraged to continue and develop myself and my skills” adds Riman who has just finished painting a piece for one of her clients.

Although this type of painting requires precision and perseverance and that there is no room for error in it Riman does not hesitate to have a footmark in this art and she has a dream of painting a large painting with threads and nails in her occupied homeland. She says to anyone who seeks success “You have to believe in yourself first before others believe in you.”
