Women in Gaza march in protest at the health crisis

Monday 3-July-2017

Dozens of Palestinian women in the besieged Gaza Strip took to the streets in a protest march against the health crisis rocking the Gaza Strip.

They demanded keeping the health sector away from political wrangling and halting the siege-tightening policy practiced by the Palestinian Authority (PA) in denying medical treatment for hundreds of Gazan patients and humanitarian cases outside Gaza.

In a protest sit-in that was staged by the Palestinian Federation of Women’s Action Committees of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine in front of al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza the Federation called on the PA to cancel the Health and Finance ministries’ decision to stop funding referrals outside of the blockaded Gaza Strip.

The spokeswoman of the Federation Hanin Mousa called for ending the internal division and adhering to national unity in order to end all of the outstanding crises in the blockaded coastal enclave. She also asked competent authorities to accelerate the transfer of urgent cases of children and cancer patients for medical treatment outside the Gaza Strip.
