Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım congratulated over a phone call on Wednesday head of Hamas political bureau Ismail Haneyya on the occasion of the holy fasting month of Ramadan and on his election as Hamas new leader.
The Turkish PM expressed his hope that peace and security would prevail in Palestine and the Muslim world problems would be solved.
He praised the Hamas new political document and opined that it would increase the chance of reconciliation between Fatah and Hamas Movements.
Yıldırım pointed out that his country is following up the settlement file in the West Bank and the Israeli violations in Occupied Jerusalem. “We are exerting efforts in this regard at different levels” he said.
Haneyya for his part thanked PM Yıldırım and congratulated the Turkish people and government on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan. “The relations with Turkey are strong and will be developed” Haneyya said.
They discussed the Israeli settlement activity and Israeli violations in Occupied Jerusalem as well as the power crisis in the Gaza Strip. Yıldırım promised to work on finding solutions to the power crisis including the completion of the Turkish fuel grant.
Ismail Haneyya was elected on May 06 as the new chairman of Hamas political bureau to succeed Khaled Mishaal.
