Speaker of the Turkish parliament Binali Yildirim has described Jerusalem as “the pivotal and leading part of the Palestinian people’s struggle” for liberation from the occupation.
Yildirim made his remarks in a speech he delivered on the sidelines of a banquet held in honor of the participants in the second conference of Parliamentarians for al-Quds in Istanbul.
“Our common goal is to see the Palestinian people live in a free and independent state” Yildirim said expressing hope that the sounds of adhan (call to prayer) would only be heard soon in Jerusalem instead of the sounds of weapons and destruction.
The Turkish speaker also denounced Israel for its persistence in occupying the Palestinian territories and using violence to prevent the Palestinian people from demanding their legitimate rights.
