Yousuf calls on Qatar Turkey to implement solar projects in Gaza

Chairman of the World Popular Committee to Support Gaza Esam Yousuf called on the governments of Qatar and Turkey to start a project based on establishing solar energy units in the several institutions of the Gaza Strip that serve the public such as universities hospitals schools and main streets amid the escalated electricity crisis.

Yousuf said in a press statement on Wednesday that the electricity crisis affects all sectors but primarily hospitals health and educational centers and other centers that target person with special needs. He added that the power outage in these centers exacerbates the citizens’ suffering.

He delivered a message to the world and the international activists to provide support and assistance for the people trapped in Gaza and to activate solidarity using various peaceful means.

He also warned of the fires breaking out due to the use of candles and small electric generators as alternatives to electricity and of the accidents that might be caused calling for providing Gaza with safe lighting to alleviate suffering.

Yousuf stated “In the new year 2017 we must not leave Gaza alone. We all have to work to make it the year of ending the siege.”
