Member of Hamas’s political bureau Mahmoud az-Zahhar has held the Israeli occupation state fully responsible for the consequences of its violations in Jerusalem and at the Aqsa Mosque.
In a news conference held on Thursday at the Omari Mosque in Gaza Zahhar said that his Movement is alert to the growing Israeli violations against the Aqsa Mosque expressing his confidence in the Palestinian resistance’s ability to defend and liberate the Palestinian land and holy sites.
The Hamas official pointed out that “the Aqsa Mosque has a great religious value for millions of Muslims around the world.”
He urged the Palestinian people in Jerusalem the West Bank and 1948 occupied Palestine to march en masse to the Aqsa Mosque especially during the coming Jewish holidays and to escalate the confrontation with Israeli forces and settlers in all flashpoint areas.
He called on the Palestinian Authority leadership in Ramallah to embark on protecting the Aqsa Mosque instead of being involved in its security coordination with the occupation state which he described as “high treason.”
Zahhar also appealed to Jordan the custodian of the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Occupied Jerusalem to immediately intervene to guard the Aqsa Mosque against Israeli violations.
