Majed al-Zeer the head of the Palestinians in Europe Conference invited on Friday the Palestinian community in Europe to participate in the activities of the 15th Palestinians in Europe Conference which will be launched on Saturday in Rotterdam city in Holland.
Zeer said in an interview with Quds Press that the conference which was founded 15 years ago in the British capital London has become the largest Palestinian cultural and popular event not only in Europe but also in the whole world.
He attributed the increasing Palestinian participation in the conference to the nature of the conference and the goals for which it was founded including showing adherence to the Palestinian constants and the right of return as well as maintaining the Palestinian identity among the new Palestinian generations in Europe.
Zeer pointed out that the conference has developed methods and programs that suit the language of the new generations and address the Western audience in English.
He said that there are “extremist right-wing parties who try to prevent holding the conference” affirming that Palestinians in Europe are proud of their European citizenship and respect the countries harboring them but they also see no contradiction between this and their Palestinian affiliation a right guaranteed by all international laws.
He emphasized that the conference’s importance this year lies in the fact that it coincides with the international campaign launched by Palestinians demanding Britain to apologize to the Palestinian people for the Balfour Declaration.
The Palestinians in Europe Conference is one of the most important European and international institutions specialized in the Palestinian issue as well as many other institutions including the European Wafa Campaign the Palestinian Doctors’ Association in Europe and other forums representing the Palestinian communities in various European countries.
The 1st Palestinians in Europe Conference was held in 2003 in London and then it moved to several European capitals on an annual basis the latest of which was Malmö city in Sweden.
Hundreds of Palestinians living in Europe with various intellectual and political affiliations and from different generations will participate in the conference.
