The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) forced on Saturday morning a Palestinian family to demolish its own house in the east Jerusalem neighborhood of Wadi al-Joz at the pretext of unlicensed construction.
The homeowner Mustafa Aramin said that the Israeli municipality already gave him until Sunday to tear down his house in order to avoid paying an exorbitant amount of money in demolition expenses and fines to the Israeli municipality.
Aramin told WAFA news agency that he and his brother Mohamed had received about a year ago a demotion notice against their two-story house adding Israeli courts rejected their appeals against the measure.
A family of nine individuals used to live in that house.
Like in the West Bank the IOA systematically demolishes Palestinian homes and structures in east Jerusalem at the pretext of unlicensed construction while it prevents the local residents from obtaining permits or makes it difficult for them to meet construction conditions.
