Enough is enough

Monday 22-October-2007

As Palestinian Authority  Chairman Mahmoud  Abbas continues to bask in his eternal “optimism” about the nearness of peace with Israel   Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has stressed that the putative Annapolis “Peace” conference will not lead to any breakthrough toward ending decades of the  Nazi-like Israeli occupation of the Palestinian homeland.

Olmert reportedly assured a number of his fascist-minded ministers who call for expulsion or enslavement of non-Jews in Israel and the occupied territories that he wouldn’t allow the conference to discuss the “core issues” of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The core issues include the right of return Jerusalem and  Jewish colonies built on stolen Arab land.

If so one would wonder what Abbas and Olmert have been talking about during all these high-profile meetings that they had in West Jerusalem and Jericho in recent months?

Last week Abbas reportedly told foreign reporters that he was impressed by Olmert’s “honesty” and “straightforwardness.” However as Abbas  was pouring praise on  the notoriously deceitful and mendacious Olmert the Israeli government decided to seize thousands of acres of Palestinian land East of Jerusalem in order to build yet more settlements for Jewish settlers imported from north America and Europe .

The insults didn’t stop at the confiscation of more Arab land. Israeli army death squads were also busy  hounding and hunting Palestinian children and  Abbas’s own men in the alleyways and narrow streets of Nablus murdering  innocent people in cold blood.

And in Gaza the Israeli army was tightening its  Nazi-like blockade of Gaza which has already been reduced to a kind of Ghetto Warsaw with only a small amount of food allowed to go into the largest open-air prison in the world.

You see  Gaza is being reduced to a Nazi concentration  camp run by  Jews  while the “civilized” world is watching and babbling about freedom and democracy and human rights and terror and what have you!

It is really difficult to give Abbas the benefit of the doubt.

Any Palestinian man woman or child  has the right to wonder how could a leader who is  passively and callously watching 1.5 million of his own  people being tormented and slowly liquidated in a   concentration-camp setting be entrusted with the national burden and with paramount issues like Jerusalem and the right of return for more than five million Palestinian refugees awaiting repatriation to their homes?

Besides how many more meetings with “honest and straightforward”  Olmert will Abbas need to realize that Olmert the man who last year ordered his army to drop 2000000 cluster bomblets on southern Lebanon   can not be trusted?

Last week Condoleezza Rice who shakes at the mere thought of angering the powerful Jewish lobby which tightly controls the American government left the Middle East in despair having found that all her efforts to get Israel to end her occupation of the West Bank and East Jerusalem were in vain.

But instead of confronting Olmert and telling him that Israel must give back the stolen territories she went to Ramallah to ask a hapless Abbas that he had to take Olmert’s internal problems into consideration and tone down Palestinian demands.

Abbas reportedly got angry and threatened to boycott the Annapolis conference. Well so what?  Abbas’s anger is the anger of a helpless man whose very political survival depends on the good will of his “honest and straightforward” enemy the Olmert government. And the US where prostitute-like presidential hopefuls  vie with each other to appease their Jewish masters and bankrollers can’t help him either.

Unfortunately Abbas has said and done virtually everything he could to cheapen himself and his people in the sight of friends and foes alike.

He has violated the human and civil rights of his people calling this “security measures” and “law and order.”

He has placed  hundreds of mostly innocent people in jail and allowed his security men to torture and mistreat detainees all to prove to his benefactors and masters that he is tough on Hamas.

In  his desperate efforts to obtain a certificate of good conduct from the Americans and the Israelis Abbas effectively killed  any semblance of the rule of law in the West Bank by giving his faceless security men a carte blanch to shoot arrest raid vandalize and even murder.

And when victims or their relatives go the courts for redress they are told “sorry.. this issue is outside our jurisdiction…this is a security matter”!! Unfortunately  The EU and the bulk of the West keep  silent as Palestinian human rights are being violated by the very regime they support politically and financially. The reason is clear. Western interests in having an obsequious junta in Ramallah exceed and override any purported concern for human rights.

Non the less Abbas should be informed in case he doesn’t understand that the Americans who have occupied and destroyed a an entire country and  killed more than a million of its people in order to punish one man  will not give him a state especially a viable one that is worth the name.

He should understand that Israel the Nazi-like colonialist entity that has been tormenting and murdering  the Palestinian people for many decades will not reward him for his “pragmatism” with a true Palestinian state…just because he is cracking down on Hamas.

In the final analysis Israel worships itself and would view any Palestinian only in proportion to the extent to which he serves Israeli interests.

Hence Abbas is urged to immediately stop harrowing after the American-Israeli mirage.

I realize that Abbas has gone too far in making himself and his miserable  regime decidedly subservient to Israel and the US . That is really lamentable and disgraceful.

However it is always not too late to wake up from this humiliating subservience to our Zionist enemies who continue to  murder our children and destroy our homes.

As Abbas is discovering Israel’s deceitfulness and rejection of peace he should immediately invite all Palestinian factions including Hamas to discuss a national salvation strategy.

And in case Israel and the US retaliated  most likely by tightening the financial blockade Abbas should turn the table and dissolve the Palestinian Authority a vacuous  entity with no real authority  once and for all.

Indeed  going back to the days of the direct occupation would be a thousand times better than continuing with this  futile game of make believe.

The Palestinian people are simply fed up and tired by this “peace process” which only spells deception lies and murder.
