A youth initiative has been launched under the name “Charity Food Bank” by providing ready-made meals to the needy people in the Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan.
The initiative aims to reach as many poor families as possible in light of the difficult economic and living conditions that the Gaza Strip is suffering from after 16 years of the Israeli blockade.
The initiative relies on donations made by local merchants and collected by local youths during the month of Ramadan.
According to one of those in charge of the initiative Mahmoud Ghanem the “Charity Food Bank” aims to provide different types of food that poor families cannot provide.
Speaking to the PIC reporter Ghanem pointed out that the initiative is part of a series of youth initiatives that seek to alleviate the suffering of poor and needy families.
The initiative’s name was taken from similar initiatives in neighboring countries he added.
The activist Rami Faisal also pointed out that nearly 800 poor families are targeted in the “Charity Food Bank” initiative.
As part of the initiative ready-made meals are distributed each Friday amid efforts to provide meals for the needy every day during Ramadan.
