The Palestinian graffiti artist Hajar Ahmed Halima draws graffiti on the walls of Burj el-Barajneh refugee camp which is located near the Lebanese capital Beirut.
On the walls of the camp Hajar sheds light on the Palestinian right of return restoring hope among its residents.
Hajar’s study of interior engineering aided her to develop her artistic talent. She has aspirations of developing a project of her own and improving Palestinian status.
Speaking to the PIC reporter Hajar revealed that the majority of her paintings on the Burj al-Barajneh’s walls depict numerous Palestinian events and sent a message to the outside world “We will remain and return to Palestine. We will not give up our hope of return.”
As they are exhibited in academic exhibitions and public institutions Hajar’s drawings have gained in impact attesting to the Palestinian’s creativity education and love of life as well as his right to return to his homeland.
The one-square Burj al-Barajneh camp has been decorated with Hajar’s drawings which advocate for the right of return and give people hope despite their suffering.
She declared that graffiti was her absolute passion and that she would work to advance it using contemporary tools.
“I really enjoy drawing about Palestine and my talent is about Palestine and to show the world our power and competence and that we will return to Palestine.”
Hajar stressed that she is a guest in Lebanon and that she has a homeland in Palestine to which she will return one day.
