Arabs, in pre-Islamic era, rejected the siege on the Prophet, do they hear the cry of Gaza today?

“I believe that we do not need to talk here about the values of chivalry, bravery, and nobility for which the Arabs were known. I remind all that in the pre-Islamic era, the Arabs refused to impose a siege on the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his family.”

With these words, Hamas leader Osama Hamdan departed from the text of the statement he read during the press conference on Monday evening in Beirut, commenting on the magnitude of the humanitarian disaster and famine striking Gaza, especially in the northern areas. The statement aimed to awaken the consciences of Arab and Islamic countries to support the people of the besieged enclave who have been suffering from continuous blockade for 17 years and ongoing Israeli aggression for more than a hundred days.

These few words are messages, perhaps intended to reach the “living” consciences in the free world, to point to what the world witnesses of genocide, killing, and punishments for the people of Gaza with all kinds of death. They die of “hunger” and “thirst” while relief convoys pile up on the other side of the borders, facing global helplessness and abandonment.

A horrifying scene for humanity, unbearable for compassionate hearts and human minds in this century that boasts democracy and human rights. More than half a million people in Gaza are eating “animal fodder” and drinking “contaminated water,” anything to fill their empty stomachs for days in hunger and thirst, while the world is preoccupied with the release of the Israeli captives and providing them with medicine to preserve their lives, while the lives of more than two million Gazans diminish unnoticed and ignored.

All the images, videos, and scenes captured by the media and circulated on social media, seen by every person in the world, bear witness to the largest genocide, committed in front of the very eyes of the entire world. Guards, neighbors, and millions around them belong to the same race and the same religion, but they failed to exhibit the “ethics of the disbelievers of Quraysh” who broke the siege on the “oppressed Prophet” who they do not even believe in his religion.

The humanitarian situation is catastrophic

The leader in the Hamas Movement, Osama Hamdan, said during the press conference on Monday evening that, with the increase in the number of displaced persons and the unavailability of suitable places for life, and the scarcity and complete lack of sufficient food aid in many areas in the northern Gaza Strip, more than half a million people in the northern Gaza Strip face the real danger of death. They endure hunger every day, days pass without having anything to eat due to the lack of food and all kinds of basic requirements for human survival, such as food, vegetables, canned goods, meats, and other necessities.

He pointed out that the disastrous and dangerous humanitarian situation, which cannot be described by any phrases in media reports or news, is due to the lack of arrival of relief and food aid to the residents of the enclave, especially flour. The residents of the northern Gaza Strip were forced to grind animal fodder for use as food to alleviate the pain of hunger and stay alive.

Hamdan held Israel and the supporting U.S. administration fully responsible for the genocide war, heinous crimes, and atrocious massacres against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, through killing, destruction, hunger, and thirst.

Urgent appeal to international organizations

Hamdan called on the World Health Organization to take immediate action and declare Gaza a famine area, and to pressure for all legal and humanitarian measures to prevent the continuation and exacerbation of this real humanitarian catastrophe.

He also called on UNRWA to assume its humanitarian responsibilities and carry out its assigned role in providing relief to the Palestinian people and entering and distributing aid to all areas of the Gaza Strip, especially in the north, without succumbing to the pressures, dictates, and threats of Israel.

He called for an urgent appeal to all countries and governments worldwide, in coordination with relevant international institutions, to pressure Israel and the U.S. administration to allow entry of relief aid by land, sea, and air.

Hamdan called on the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League and appealed to the leaders and rulers of the Arab and Islamic nation, in the name of Arabism and Islam, and the values of chivalry, nobility, and gallantry, to intervene immediately to exert serious pressure to open crossings before aid through the urgent dispatch of relief convoys and air drops to prevent a real famine catastrophe against more than a million Palestinian citizens in the north of the sector.

The Government Media Office announced in a statement issued Monday the depletion of the quantities of flour, its derivatives, rice, and canned goods that remained in the northern governorate of the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the genocidal war on Gaza. This confirms the beginning of a real famine facing 400,000 Palestinian citizens still present in the governorate.
