Jabaliya camp … an example of epic steadfastness despite the genocide

Massive destruction, a will to survive and defiance. It is what the scene looks like in the Jabaliya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip following the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) after a 20-day incursion, during which clashes and heroic epics did not stop.

As soon as the news of the IOF withdrawal was spread, the people began to return to their camp, sending a message of steadfastness and clinging to their land, no matter how large the extent of destruction was.

As far as the eye can see, the destruction was everywhere in residential buildings, streets, and schools. The structure that was spared from destruction, was not spared from burning. It is a real holocaust committed by the IOF against humans, stones, and even animals.

The IOF returned back to storm Jabaliya and its camp once again on the evening of May 11, sparking battles and fighting in alleys and streets between the invaders and the owners of the land.

The IOF, which had previously announced in December that it had taken control of the northern Gaza Strip, was surprised by the scale of the battles and the strength of the resistance, while it has failed to achieve any victories on the ground other than committing more killing, destruction, and oppressing civilians.

Jabaliya camp
The Palestinian Information Center (PIC) correspondent said, the IOF retreated from the camp, amid intense artillery shelling and aerial surveillance, in what appeared to be a resounding failure of the IOF in the face of tough fighters who knew no path other than victory or martyrdom.

Following the IOF withdrawal from the camp, videos went viral on social media platforms showing the extent of the horrific destruction that struck the heart of the camp.

Groups of citizens went out to search for missing relatives under the rubble, as the occupation planes had destroyed homes on top of its residents.

Big failure
For his part, Palestinian writer Sharhabeel Al-Gharib described what is happening in Jabaliya camp as a clear indication that Israel has failed to eliminate the resistance and failed to create a new security reality as it claimed.

Al-Gharib said in a news article, “The footage broadcast daily by the Palestinian resistance, whether from the battle of Jabaliya camp in the north or even from Rafah in the south, indicate massive losses suffered by the IOF at the hands of the resistance forces.”

He explained that such losses imposed a state of mounting frustration within the ranks of the IOF, prompting hundreds of soldiers and their families to demand exemption from service in Gaza.

Al-Gharib pointed out that the valor shown in the battles of Jabaliya camp and Rafah reflects a high fighting spirit that does not know defeat.

Fierce battles
In this context, Karim Al-Falah, military and strategic expert, said that the resistance was able to inflict heavy losses on the IOF’s 98th Division, which leads the military operations in these areas, in terms of lives and equipment.

He pointed to the multiplicity of resistance tactics, including bombing houses, sniping operations, the use of Al-Yassin projectiles (105) and explosive devices, planting mines, the use of missile force, mortars, close-quarters, face-to-face engagement, and the use of drones.

Israeli media sources described the fierce battles that took place in Jabaliya as the most violent since October 7 last October.

Saeed Ziyad, a military expert, said that the IOF put at the forefront of its agenda the destruction of the high symbolism of the Jabaliya camp, especially since it was one of few places that the IOF could not invade.

The IOF, however, failed in the face of the fighters who won two previous battles and failed before the camp residents who remained steadfast despite the horror of genocide and the war of starvation, he added.
