The General Directorate of Palestinian Civil Defense has released statistics showing the magnitude of the growing humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, as the Israeli genocide war continues for the 11th consecutive month.

The Directorate estimated in a press conference on Sunday that there are 10,000 missing people under the rubble, and about 1,760 martyrs whose bodies have evaporated and left no trace; due to the occupation army’s use of prohibited weapons that cause the bodies to evaporate.

The Civil Defense conference in Gaza coincided with the International Humanitarian Day; to stand on the latest developments of the humanitarian disaster in the Gaza Strip, and the challenges of humanitarian work in light of the fascist Israeli attacks, which violate all international norms.

It pointed out that 8,240 citizens were recorded as forcibly disappeared, stressing that there is no information about their fate so far.

It continued, “There are 2,210 bodies that have disappeared from scattered graves in the Gaza Strip, and many others have been lost from the areas raided by the Israeli occupation army.”

The Civil Defense teams were able to recover 35,580 martyrs out of 40,000 martyrs who reached the hospitals during the genocide war. The occupation army obstructed the recovery of 14,420 martyrs, and citizens recovered 4,420 of these martyrs, while 10,000 remained under the rubble. The Civil Defense emergency teams transported 8,973 martyrs.

The Civil Defense teams recovered 82,800 injured and wounded out of more than 92,000 wounded, while the ambulance teams transported 21,240 wounded, noting that the occupation obstructed the recovery of 7,552 wounded from scattered areas in the Gaza Strip.

Regarding the evacuation of citizens, the Civil Defense teams were able to evacuate 25,430 families from dangerous areas throughout the Gaza Strip.

The Civil Defense said that “the occupation army’s dropping of about 85,000 tons of explosives on the Gaza Strip caused the destruction of more than 80% of the urban infrastructure, and 90% of the infrastructure. 17% of those explosive material did not explode, which are considered dangerous remnants that threaten life.”

Regarding the war remnants, the Civil Defense reported the martyrdom of more than 90 children as a result of tampering with the remnants of the occupation army that resemble food cans.

As for the occupation army’s claims about the safe area, the Civil Defense indicated that the army confines the Palestinians to an area that it claims is humanitarian and safe, which is only 10.5% of the area of the Gaza Strip.

It warned that the occupation army committed 21 massacres in the areas it claimed were humanitarian, and directed citizens towards them, which resulted in the registration of 347 martyrs and 766 injured in those areas.

82 members of the Civil Defense in the Gaza Strip were martyred, and more than 270 were injured, including members who were injured more than once and then returned to work again.

The Civil Defense confirmed that 40% of its teams were exposed to physical danger, and they were all exposed to psychological harm and the loss of a first-degree or second-degree relative or the loss of their homes.

The headquarters of the Civil Defense were subjected to total destruction, direct bombing, leveling, and partial damage in a manner that violates the Annex to the Geneva Conventions on the protection of civil defense agencies.

The occupation forces also targeted Civil Defense vehicles with artillery and air strikes, and some of them were burned.

Regarding the damage to the equipment and vehicles of the civil defense teams, the General Directorate announced the loss of 11 fire trucks and rescue vehicles, 2 rapid intervention vehicles, 4 tanker vehicles, 1 hydraulic ladder, and 12 administrative vehicles.

Additionally, 7 fire trucks that can be repaired if the necessary capabilities are available, 3 rescue vehicles, 3 ambulances, and a water tanker that can be returned to service if the occupation army allows the introduction of the appropriate spare parts, according to the Civil Defense.

The General Directorate stressed that the occupation deliberately hinders the humanitarian work and rescue of citizens in the Gaza Strip, noting that it is increasing the suffering of citizens by preventing humanitarian interventions and by targeting civil defense teams.

The Civil Defense received 87,000 distress calls during the ongoing genocide war and responded to 72,000 calls, resulting in more than 255,000 missions, including firefighting, rescue, and evacuation of civilians.

They were unable to respond to 15,000 distress calls due to fuel shortages, targeting of civil defense equipment and capabilities, and the occupation army’s closure of many areas where citizens are located.

The civil defense teams carried out 72,000 rescue missions and 11,530 firefighting missions due to the occupation forces’ use of incendiary projectiles and the burning of homes with their occupants inside, as well as the burning of industrial and economic facilities.

The Civil Defense said that “the efficiency of our vehicles before the genocide war was only 37%, and our teams have so far performed tasks equivalent to 40 years of work before the war.”

The Director-General of the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza concluded by emphasizing that the role of international organizations is to assist the humanitarian intervention agencies and provide all the potentials for the continuity of their work.

It finally warned of the danger of the declining role of international and United Nations organizations in supporting the humanitarian services provided by the Civil Defense in Gaza Strip.
