Bahr meets with US activists of international solidarity movement in Gaza

Wednesday 7-November-2012

GAZA (PIC)– First deputy speaker of the Palestinian legislative council Ahmed Bahr received on Tuesday 25 US pro-Palestinian activists from the international solidarity movement including the parents of slain activist Rachel Corrie.

In his meeting with the US solidarity delegation Bahr appreciated the efforts made by the activists in general to support the Palestinian cause especially the role which had been played by Rachel Corrie who was crushed to death by an Israeli military bulldozer in Gaza Rafah in 2003.

The deputy speaker explained to the delegation the blockade which has been imposed on Gaza and the injustice inflicted on its people since Hamas Movement won the legislative election in 2006 although former US president Jimmy Carter oversaw it and declared its integrity.

Bahr also highlighted the double standard policy which is pursued by the US administration against the Palestinian people.

In another incident the Palestinian ministry of religious affairs said a delegation of senior Egyptian Islamic religious figures would visit Gaza on Wednesday.

Minister of religious affairs Ismail Radwan told Quds Press that the delegation would visit Gaza under the slogan “the campaign of the scholars to break the blockade imposed on the honorable people of Gaza”.

He added that the delegation is composed of 57 Egyptian religious figures and would stay in Gaza for three days during which they would meet with Palestinian officials and dignitaries.
