A new picture of a recently released prisoner from Gaza summarizes the tragedies that Palestinian detainees go through inside Israeli prisons.

The Gazan Badr Dahlan, 30, who was arrested by Israeli occupation forces from Khan Yunis one month ago, was released on Thursday in a state of trauma and shock.

The PIC correspondent said that Dahlan passed through “harsh detention conditions” as he was subjected to brutal torture and violations.

The traumatized man summarized what happened with him in Israeli occupation prisons over a period of a month with one word: “Nightmare!”, as he bears signs of torture on his face, hands, and different parts of his body.

Amid a state of astonishment and shock that he was still alive, Dahlan told reporters and doctors at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital that he was arrested about a month ago from the city of Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, and that he was severely beaten during his arrest.

He explained that he did not know his family’s current location, and that he heard from citizens that Khan Yunis was subjected to vast destruction due to Israeli bombardment.

Not knowing where to go after his release and transfer to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir Al -Balah for treatment, Dahlan said he “feels that he will die”.

He appeared disoriented and had difficulty speaking and explaining things, which suggests that he suffers from a severe psychological condition due to the torture he went through in Israeli jails.

A medical staff told the PIC correspondent that it is evident that Dahlan is traumatized due to severe torture in detention, stressing that he needs an intense physical and psychological treatment.

The status of Dahlan represents the terrifying violations, torture, and deprivation of sleep, nutrition, and treatment as well as systematic punishment policy pursued against Gazan detainees in Israeli prisons.
