The Hamas Movement has said that the Israeli Knesset’s passing of a resolution opposing the establishment of a Palestinian state was issued by an occupying power that has no legal status on the Palestinian land, describing the motion as “invalid.”

In a statement on Thursday, Hamas said that this Israeli resolution confirmed the Zionist policy that is based on denying the Palestinian people’s rights, including their right to self-determination.

“Our people will continue their resistance, struggle and legitimate defense of their existence against the fascist war of extermination that is being waged by the terrorist Zionist government against them,” Hamas underscored.

“This rude decision is a message of challenge to the international community and contempt for the UN resolutions that support granting Palestine full UN membership,” Hamas stressed, calling for international action against such Israeli steps.

Israel’s Knesset voted overwhelmingly in favor of a resolution rejecting the establishment of a Palestinian state on Wednesday.

The resolution garnered support from 68 Knesset members, including those from Benny Gantz’s National Unity Party. Nine Knesset members from Arab parties opposed the proposal, and members of the Labor Party abstained from voting.
