In the escalating extermination campaign carried out by Israeli occupation forces against northern Gaza, particularly in Jabalia Camp, Israel uses robots and barrel bombs, causing massive destruction and leading to the death and injury of hundreds of innocent civilians.
Since the start of the genocide, Israel has not hesitated to use a wide range of lethal weapons against an unarmed population seeking freedom. In its bloody escalation against the residents of northern Gaza, it has relied heavily on explosive robots and quadcopter drones, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of Palestinians and the destruction of homes and property.
The use of such deadly weapons is part of Israel’s pursuit of genocide against the Palestinian people, aiming to implement a military plan to empty northern Gaza and declare it a closed military zone. This also aligns with the desires of extremist settler groups to renew settlement activity in the area.
The increased use of barrel bombs
A Palestinian security source stated that the explosive robots are military vehicles loaded with tons of explosives that move between homes and are remotely controlled by the Israeli army. However, this destructive weapon was not enough for Israeli commanders, who have also deployed barrel bombs. These bombs are transported by Israeli military bulldozers at night in the form of water tanks into residential areas under siege, where access to water and food has been blocked since the beginning of the military campaign. The bombs are later detonated in civilian areas.
The security source emphasized that Israel uses these weapons to cause the highest possible number of casualties among civilians in its war of extermination against Gaza. He added that these new weapons have immense explosive power, capable of destroying an entire residential neighborhood.
U.S.-Made robots
According to international reports, the explosive robots are American-made military vehicles of the M113 model, known as “Zelda” in Israel. They have been in use since 2013 and are controlled remotely by armies in dangerous areas.
Local sources told our reporter that Israel has intensified its use of quadcopter drones, transforming them from surveillance and photography tools into deadly weapons, killing Palestinians by targeting them with gunfire and explosive bombs.
Journalist Basel Khair Al-Deen told our reporter that the quadcopters are playing a significant role in the genocide in northern Gaza, killing Palestinians in their homes, on the streets, and in shelters. The drones also enforce a strict curfew and ban movement in the region.
He explained that the drones chase people from place to place, killing them in cold blood. He emphasized that Israel continues its horrific crimes of extermination using American-made weapons.
Khair Al-Deen added that Israel doesn’t stop at demolishing homes but also bombs and destroys them with the residents still inside, committing some of the worst atrocities of murder and terrorism.
The Generals’ Plan to tighten the siege
The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) held the US government responsible for the genocide being carried out by Israel in northern Gaza, saying that “a complete genocide is occurring in northern Gaza” as part of what is known as the “Generals’ Plan.”
The “Generals’ Plan” aims to tighten the siege on northern Gaza, cut off humanitarian aid to hundreds of thousands of Palestinians inside, and prevent them from accessing food and water. Anyone who remains inside the area is considered a combatant, meaning they can be targeted and killed after the area is declared a “closed military zone.”
Hamas described the situation in northern Gaza as one of the most brutal and degrading military plans in modern history, equating it with Nazism.
Hamas called on the international community to take effective measures to impose resolutions that protect civilians in Gaza. It also urged Arab and Islamic countries to take immediate and urgent action to pressure Israel.
Military expert General Fayez Al-Duwairi said that the Israeli army conducts nighttime incursions into residential areas in northern Gaza, sending robots and barrel bombs, which are detonated remotely. He described the ongoing events as the “systematic destruction of Jabalia Camp.”
The military expert stressed that the Israeli army enters at night and retreats in the morning to avoid daytime resistance weapons. He warned that if the world remains silent, the Israeli army will eventually destroy Jabalia Camp entirely.
Violations of international law
The Euro-Med declared that the Israeli army’s use of explosive robots and barrel bombs loaded with tons of explosives during the destruction and killings in northern Gaza is prohibited under international law. These weapons are indiscriminate in nature, making it impossible to limit their effects to military targets alone.
The Monitor confirmed in a statement that these weapons cause widespread damage to homes and surrounding buildings, resulting in significant loss of life. Emergency and civil defense teams are almost entirely unable to function, except in a limited number of areas.
The Monitor documented the Israeli army’s use of robots in areas like Al-Qasasib, Al-Tawam, Al-Zahra, and Bir Al-Najeh in Jabalia, noting that a single robot can destroy seven homes, collapsing them on their residents.
The Monitor warned that those who survive the bombing are still at risk of death from hunger or thirst, as Israeli forces have blocked any aid from reaching northern Gaza. They have also destroyed and burned bakeries in the area and bulldozed what remained of water wells.
Meanwhile, Ismail Al-Thawabta, the Director General of the Government Media Office in Gaza, said that the Israeli army is using “explosive robots and barrel bombs as part of the ethnic cleansing” in northern Gaza, which is also a part of the war of extermination ongoing since October 7, 2023.
Destruction of neighborhoods and infrastructure
In a statement to Anadolu Agency, Al-Thawabta explained that “moving robots are increasingly used; these are remotely controlled devices that enter Palestinian streets and homes, causing massive human and material losses in a brutal manner as part of the war of extermination.”
He confirmed that the robots are used to systematically destroy infrastructure and residential areas, leaving extensive destruction in the targeted areas and resulting in dozens of deaths and injuries.
Al-Thawabta added that the Israeli army also plants or places plastic containers similar to those used for storing cleaning materials or bottled water. These containers are rigged with explosives and are detonated remotely when civilians approach them.
He stressed that these methods have increased the number of martyrs in northern Gaza, as the Israeli army targets civilian gatherings with these rigged containers.
Al-Thawabta underscored that the use of these deadly tools reflects Israel’s intention to commit genocide against the Palestinian people.
Systematic destruction
The Gaza Civil Defense reported that the Israeli army is conducting “systematic destruction” of Jabalia Camp in northern Gaza by using various tools, including explosive robots, to demolish buildings and infrastructure.
Civil Defense spokesperson Major Mahmoud Basal said that Israel is using robots extensively to cause widespread destruction in Jabalia Camp, aiming to empty the camp of its residents.
He added that the Israeli forces refuse to allow civil defense or medical teams to enter the area to evacuate the wounded or retrieve the bodies of the martyrs. Hundreds of bodies remain trapped under the rubble.
Basal emphasized that hundreds of appeals and pleas for help reach the Civil Defense daily, but the Israeli army refuses to allow rescue teams to operate.
