Jewish settlers placed concrete blocks around several springs in Khirbet al-Deir in the northern Jordan Valley on Monday.

Omar Fuqaha, head of the village council in Ein al-Bayda, said that settlers placed the concrete blocks around some springs in an attempt to take control over them and prevent Palestinian citizens from using them.

The settlers repeatedly target springs scattered throughout the border area which are usually used by citizens to irrigate their rain-fed crops annually.

The Palestinian Jordan Valley constitutes 28% of the West Bank, which covers an area of 5,800 square kilometers, 88% of which is controlled by Israel, and classified either as “state land”, military training areas, or nature reserves.
