Siyam urges Egypt to end security deterioration in the West Bank

Monday 8-January-2007

GAZA (PIC)– Sa’eed Siyam the PA interior minister has urged the Egyptian security delegation residing in the Gaza Strip to step in and stop the security deterioration in the West Bank warning of total security collapse in the PA-run lands.

Siyam asked Burhan Hammad the chief Egyptian security delegate in a telephone conversation last night to convince PA chief Mahmoud Abbas to order his Fatah faction to halt the systematic security escalation in the West Bank.

In a statement on the issue the minister said that what is going on reneges on the agreement reached between Abbas and premier Ismail Haneyya in the presence of the Egyptian security delegation.

Individuals and institutions affiliated with or close to the Hamas Movement in the West Bank were the targets of numerous attacks over the past couple of days.
