Clashes flare anew in Nablus IOF tightens the grip at barriers

Monday 18-December-2017

Violent clashes erupted again on Monday between Palestinian youths and Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in different locations south and east of Nablus city in the northern West Bank.

In Bourin town to the south of the city the outraged school students torched car tires and threw stones at IOF soldiers who replied by unleashing tear gas canisters towards the children.

IOF troops also tightened security measures at Zaatara barrier in the south. Another man Subhi Sayel from Qusra town southeast of the city was arrested at the same checkpoint.

Eyewitnesses said that Israeli border guards in 14 military vehicles were deployed at the barrier. They stopped Palestinian cars and checked the IDs of passengers resulting in heavy traffic congestion.

Clashes also broke out in Beit Forik town east of Nablus city and near Itamar settlement. IOF soldiers showered the protesters with gunfire and tear gas grenades.

Meanwhile clashes with the IOF continued for the 11th day in a row in Jabal al-Qada area to the south of the town. Israeli soldiers opened fire and fired tear gas canisters at the participants in the protest.
