Hamas Fatah ask Egypt to postpone government takeover in Gaza

Wednesday 29-November-2017

Palestinian factions in Gaza announced on Wednesday evening their agreement to postpone the Palestinian Authority (PA) government takeover of the Gaza Strip.

This announcement was made during a press conference following an urgent meeting with the factions called for by Hamas’s chief in the Gaza Strip Yahya al-Sinwar.

Fayez Abu Eita member of Fatah Movement said during the conference that Fatah and Hamas asked Egyptian authorities to defer the government takeover from December 01 to 10 for the purpose of accomplishing certain procedures that would guarantee successful reconciliation moves.

Both Movements hailed the Egyptian efforts being exerted for achieving the Palestinian national reconciliation.

The PIC reporter pointed out that the urgent meeting was held on Wednesday evening in Sinwar’s office in Gaza city in the presence of an Egyptian security delegation. The meeting followed a decision by the PA government to return pre-2007 civil employees to their work positions in Gaza based on the ministries’ needs.
