Hamas’s chief in the Gaza Strip Yahya al-Sinwar on Wednesday evening called on a number of Palestinian factions to meet urgently at his office in Gaza city according to the PIC reporter.
Talal Abu Zarifa the leader from the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed the news but did not elaborate on the details to be discussed in the meeting.
Sinwar’s call followed a decision by the Palestinian Authority (PA) government to return pre-2007 civil employees to their work positions in Gaza based on the ministries’ needs.
The PIC reporter said that a state of confusion prevailed in a number of government institutions in Gaza on Wednesday morning after some PA employees who stopped working after the 2007 division started returned to their workplaces.
The Gaza Employees Union issued a decision preventing any of these employees from returning to work in such a random manner until the Gaza employees hired after the 2007 events are recognized and integrated into the PA administration.
Sinwar on Tuesday met with Switzerland’s ambassador to Palestine Julian Toni and briefed him on the latest developments in the Palestinian reconciliation file.
They touched on the obstacles facing the reconciliation discussed ways of overcoming them and stressed the importance of finding a just solution to the Gaza employees issue.
