Bardawil: Cairo talks culminate in roadmap to boost reconciliation

Wednesday 22-November-2017

Political bureau member of Hamas Salah al-Bardawil said the Palestinian factions agreed during the Cairo-brokered round of talks that all projected accords should take into account the terms of the 2011 deal.

Speaking from Cairo al-Bardawil said the national Palestinian factions present at the reconciliation gathering also agreed on the need to implement the terms of the Cairo-brokered deal struck on October 12 2017.

He added that a timetable has been set to put into effect the bonds of the 2011 deal according to a definite agenda.

“While Fatah tackled the empowerment of the Palestinian Authority (PA) the other factions stressed the need for the PA to immediately lift the sanctions imposed on Gaza” stated al-Bardawil adding that Hamas has already handed over key files in the enclave to the PA.

He further stated that the Egyptian intelligence took it upon its shoulders to supervise the progress of the reconciliation process and keep tabs on any reluctance regarding the implementation of the terms of the deal.

At the same time Hamas stressed the need for the government’s administrative committee to include representatives of all national factions among them Hamas.

Hamas further called for partnership in all future acts of decision-making.

Senior delegates from national Palestinian factions arrived in Cairo on Monday to take part in reconciliation talks carried out under the mediation of the Egyptian intelligence. The talks come just a few weeks after a reconciliation deal struck between Fatah and Hamas on October 12 signaled the launch of the PA’s mission in the besieged enclave of Gaza.
