Scores of Palestinian citizens flocked recently to the national industries exhibition in the besieged Gaza Strip which was also organized in the occupied West Bank.
Visitors expressed their pride in the national product and its role in boosting the Palestinian economy hoping that such exhibitions would promote the culture of resisting and boycotting Israeli products.
About 50 industrial and food enterprises participated last Sunday in the three-day national exhibition which was also visited by officials from the government.
Minister of public works and housing Mufid al-Hasayneh said that “the construction and food industries are the first and main lever for the advancement of the national economy and the building of the Palestinian state.”
During his visit to the exhibition Hasayneh applauded the role of the national enterprises in promoting the economy and expressed his ministry’s support for the local industries and products in Palestine.
“We in the government have made great efforts to promote the national industries and we have provided financial compensations for the owners of industrial establishments that sustained damage during the Israeli aggression [against Gaza] amounting to seven million dollars from the Kuwaiti grant for the reconstruction of Gaza” the minister said.
He stressed that one of the government’s top priorities at the coming stage is to build a free national economy capable of facing the current and future challenges expressing his pride in the national industries and “the Palestinian shoulders that work for the local product and improving it.”
For his part Ali al-Hayek chairman of the Palestinian Businessmen Association valued the efforts being made to cement the national reconciliation which he described as “important for the Palestinian economy.”
Al-Hayek told the Palestinian Information Center (PIC) that such exhibitions present the quality of the national products and show them as capable of competing strongly against other Israeli and foreign goods.
He urged the Palestinian citizen to necessarily support the national product in order to improve the Palestinian economic situation.
