The family of prisoner Mohamed al-Jabbarin has found out that its son is being exposed to excruciating torture at the hands of Palestinian Authority intelligence officers in Jericho prison.
Jabbarin’s mother paid him a visit along with a lawyer in the prison on Sunday and later talked while crying to a Palestinian Information Center (PIC) reporter about her meeting with her son.
“At first I did not recognize him. I said no this is not my son Mohamed. He was brought to me as I was sitting down in the visit room but he hardly carried himself into the room and his face was black and congested” she said.
“He looked very frail and weak and there were bruises clearly seen in the middle of his nose on his lips and below his eyes as a result of his exposure to torture and beating” she added.
She said that her son told her about how several officers severally and ruthlessly beat him all over his head and body.
“I have been receiving treatment for the effects of the torture for 12 days. They tortured me tied me and beat me everywhere” the mother quoted her son as saying.
The mother also pointed out that her son is locked up in a very small cell and sleeps on the floor with no mattress.
About two weeks ago Jabbarin was summoned for an interview at the PA intelligence headquarters for only several minutes as an officer told him over the phone but he was arrested when he got there and later transferred to Jericho prison.
Jabbarin from Sa’ir town in al-Khalil works with his father at rock quarries and he already spent one and a half years in Israeli jails.
