PA government concerned over conditions of Palestinian refugees in Iraq

Thursday 28-December-2006

GAZA (PIC)– Mohammed Al-Madhon the PA premier’s office director has affirmed that the PA government was exerting strenuous efforts on all levels to end the daily targeting of Palestinian refugees in Iraq at the hands of armed militias.

Madhon in a press release highlighted that the Palestinian refugees in that American-occupied Arab country are the target of a ferocious aggressive campaign that includes murder expulsion and confiscation of their property on daily basis.

The PA premier Ismail Haneyya was exerting all efforts possible to alleviate the suffering of the Palestinian refugees in Iraq and to ensure safety of their families in addition to resisting schemes aimed at deporting them to non-Arab countries.

Madhon noted that Haneyya during his tour abroad discussed the issue of those refugees with Syrian and Iranian officials in a bid to find solutions to that humanitarian issue.

Meanwhile a group of Palestinian engineers in the PA-run lands started a campaign of support for those refugees and urged UNRWA to assume its role in registering them in its files and finding safer areas for them.

The engineers asked the Arab countries to pressure the Iraqi government to abide by its commitments towards those refugees and to pay compensations for all the damage they suffered.
