Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haneyya on Saturday phoned Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Sabah and briefed him on the latest developments regarding the Palestinian reconciliation.
During the conversation Haneyya stressed the importance of the Arab role in supporting the Palestinian cause and the current national reconciliation.
Haneyya acquainted Sheikh Sabah with some details of the reconciliation agreement that had been signed recently in Cairo between Hamas and Fatah.
For his part the Kuwaiti Emir gave his blessing to the reconciliation deal and congratulated the Palestinian people on this achievement.
He said that the Palestinian reconciliation pleased all the Arabs and not just the Palestinians stressing the centrality of the Palestinian cause for the Arab and Islamic worlds.
He also expressed hope that this development would lead the Palestinian people to achieve their higher aspirations.
Haneyya also talked over the phone on the same day with Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad and his foreign minister as well as Russian deputy foreign minister Mikhail Bogdanov and put them in the picture of what came in the Cairo reconciliation agreement.
