The Hamas Movement on Sunday announced that it disbanded the administrative committee in the Gaza Strip.
In a brief press release Hamas called on the Palestinian Authority government of Rami al-Hamdallah to come immediately to Gaza and assume its responsibilities.
Hamas also declared its acceptance of holding general Palestinian elections and its readiness to respond to the Egyptian invitation for dialog with the Fatah Movement to execute the 2011 Cairo agreement and its annexes as a prelude to forming a national unity government with the participation of other factions.
The Movement said that its decisions were taken in response to the Egyptian efforts to end the Palestinian division.
For over a week a high-level delegation from Hamas led by head of its political bureau Ismail Haneyya has been holding serious talks in Cairo under the auspices of the Egyptian intelligence service in the context of the Movement’s keenness to heal the rift in the Palestinian arena and end the humanitarian suffering of the population in Gaza.
