The Israeli Physicians for Human Rights organization demanded on Tuesday the entry of medicines and all basic needs to Gaza warning of the worsening health and life conditions there.
Director-general of the organization Ran Goldstein said in a report on the health conditions in Gaza that “a dramatic and immediate” action must be taken by transferring funds medicines power supplies and humanitarian aid to Gaza.
The report pointed out that nearly 240 children who have developmental problems and need therapeutic milk and 321 cystic fibrosis patients as well as hundreds of cancer patients do not receive treatment because the Palestinian Authority (PA) in Ramallah refuses to send budgets to the Ministry of Health in Gaza.
It explained that the funds are supposed to serve 13 government hospitals and 54 medical centers.
The organization noted that the budget sent to Gaza previously amounted to 4 million dollars but it was reduced to 2.3 million dollars in April 2017. In May 2017 it was again reduced to half a million dollars.
The report reviewed the opinions of Gazan citizens and patients as well as the position of Israeli ministers on the cabinet’s decision to reduce the power supply to Gaza at the request of the PA.
According to the organization the Gaza Strip lacks one-third of the vital medicines needed and more than 270 medical devices required for surgery rooms and emergency treatment.
In addition to the lack of medicines it added cystic fibrosis patients cannot use the inhalation devices to regulate respiration due to the continuous power outage.
