The daughter of the Palestinian detainee Abdullah Barghouti serving 67 life terms in Israeli jails shed bitter tears as she addressed her hunger striking father.
In a letter sent to her father serving the highest sentence ever handed down by an Israeli court Safa Barghouti expressed hope that her father would be released in a projected prisoner swap deal so that she can hold him in her arms and see him face to face perhaps for the first time in her life.
Attempting to hide so much of the agony she deeply felt inside her heart Safa kept stammering as she tried to tell her father how much she misses him. She ultimately burst into tears.
“Baba (my father) I am so proud of you. You are our source of honor. Baba I love you so much. Keep up the struggle” Safa said.
“Baba we remember you every single day and every single moment” said Safa. “Stay strong! Never give up your rights! I hope to see you as I do now the sky above me.”
“I have the right to live with my father. I’m repeating the word ‘baba’ because I miss my father so much and it hurts” Safa added in what appeared to be a cry for help sent to the international community.
