The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas praised on Monday the pro-Palestine resolutions issued by the UN Human Rights Council at its 34th session held in Geneva.
In a press statement the Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum appreciated these resolutions which confirmed the illegality of the settlement activity and supported the Palestinian people’s right of self-determination.
Barhoum thanked the member states that voted in favor of the resolutions condemning the Israeli violations against the Palestinian people land and holy sites and calling for holding Israel accountable for these crimes.
He called for expediting the internationalization of these decisions and asked the international community and its human rights organizations to take practical and effective steps to deter the Israeli occupation and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.
The UN Human Rights Council adopted four resolutions related to the Palestinian cause at its 34th session held in Geneva last Friday with an overwhelming majority of member states.
The Palestinian foreign minister Riyad al-Maliki said that the resolutions adopted included one against the Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories and East Jerusalem the second on the Palestinian people’s right of self-determination and the third on human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territories and East Jerusalem. The fourth called for accountability for violations of the international law he added.
