Hamas Movement strongly condemned on Saturday the removal of ESCWA’s report accusing Israel of imposing an “apartheid regime” on Palestinians.
Spokesman for the Movement Fawzi Barhoum said that the decision to withdraw the report was taken under US and Israeli pressures.
Barhoum also praised head of ESCWA Rima Khalaf’s strong position against the decision.
Such a decision would give a green light for more Israeli crimes and violations against the Palestinian people and holy sites Barhoum added.
He also called for internationalizing the report and to take firm positions against Israeli crimes.
On Wednesday 15/3/2017 ESCWA published a report clearly charging Israel of “establishing an apartheid regime that dominates the Palestinian people as a whole.”
However UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres asked for the report to be taken off the ESCWA website.
Based on that Khalaf submitted her resignation from the United Nations.
