Senior Islamic Jihad official Khaled al-Batesh has demanded the Palestinian Authority (PA) to revoke its recognition of Israel and renounce its relations with it.
In a press release on Thursday Batesh asked the PA to make all options open to the Palestinian people to confront the occupation after the failure of peaceful solutions.
He stressed that the positions stated by US president Donald Trump and Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu during their recent meeting in Washington were a joint message to the Arab regimes and the PA that “the peace process and the two-state solution have ground to a halt.”
He expressed his belief that the Trump-Netanyahu meeting portended that the coming period would see widespread settlement activities and efforts to establish relations with some Arab and Islamic countries.
The Islamic Jihad official called for necessarily rebuilding the Palestinian house and strengthening the internal front in order to stand in the face of any repercussions on the Palestinian cause resulting from US positions.
He warned that the Arab passivity towards Israel’s Judaization and settlement activities would encourage Trump’s administration to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Occupied Jerusalem.
