The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas offered condolences to the family of Momen Abu Hamed who died while trying to find sustenance for his family on Monday.
The Egyptian authorities pumped wastewater into the tunnel where Abu Hamed was working in the southern Gaza borders drowning him in the process.
Hamas denounced this “tragic incident” in a press statement and asserted that there is no justification for using such dangerous methods in dealing with the besieged Gazan citizens.
The Movement called on the Egyptian authorities to open Rafah crossing permanently to put an end to the suffering of the Gazan people.
Local and medical sources reported the death of the young man Momen Abu Hamed who drowned in the tunnel and arrived a dead body to Yousuf al-Najjar hospital in Rafah city.
Dozens of Palestinian workers who are the only breadwinners for their children were killed in similar incidents while looking for a living in these commercial tunnels dug by Palestinian citizens to break the ongoing blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip for 11 years now.
