Raed Salah the leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel said that the promises of the US president elect Donald Trump of recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and relocating the Israeli embassy there is tantamount to declaring war on Islam.
“If Trump’s promises ever came true horrible things will happen” Salah said in an interview after he was released from Israeli prison on Tuesday.
“Trump by his promises declares war on Islam international legitimacy and UN resolutions” that affirm that Jerusalem is an occupied city he added.
Salah told al-Jazeera TV channel during an interview on Wednesday night that that Israel was now Judaizing Jerusalem but affirmed that its attempt will fail.
Al-Aqsa is ours
Salah asserted that al-Aqsa Mosque is still in danger while stressing that there are no negotiations or bargaining regarding al-Aqsa. He pointed out that the Israeli intelligence tried to negotiate with him regarding al-Aqsa five days before his release.
The Israeli intelligence offered to let him meet Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu or Aryeh Deri Minister of the Interior “but my answer was no” Salah underscored.
The Israeli intelligence also mentioned that any movement association or institution that defends al-Aqsa is considered illegal and the only way for him to speak about al-Aqsa is by being a Knesset member which Salah said will never happen.
“It is our duty to defend al-Aqsa. In the past we talked about diggings raids and spatio-temporal division but what is happening now is more dangerous than ever. The Israeli occupation authority is trying to uproot our Palestinian identity by separating us from al-Aqsa” Salah said.
Sheikh Salah was released a couple of days ago after nine months of imprisonment after he was “convicted” of incitement in a speech he made years ago.
Sheikh Salah read more than 80 books wrote 4 books and composed a number of poems during his imprisonment. He concluded saying that he will soon publish a book describing the conditions of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
