Hamas on Wednesday decided to take part in a meeting of the preparatory committee of the Palestinian National Council (PNC) in Beirut.
Speaking to the PIC Hamas spokesman Abdullatif al-Kanou’ said Hamas will join the meeting of the PNC preparatory committee to discuss the mechanisms and arrangements for the coming PNC session.
Hamas reached the decision following contacts with PNC Speaker Saleem al-Za’noun.
For his part Hamas leader Salah al-Bardawil said the meeting will discuss possible ways to restructure the PNC in such a way as to include all Palestinian factions and introduce an administrative and financial reform.
He vowed that the movement will cancel its participation in the meeting in case it turns out to be a warm-up phase to the seventh PNC session.
A few days ago PNC Speaker al-Za’noun said invitations were extended to the members of the preparatory committee for a meeting on January 10 and 11 in the Lebanese capital—Beirut.
