Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasem has strongly denounced Palestinian Authority chief Mahmoud Abbas for making new threats against the Gaza Strip describing his position as “a reflection of the political crisis he suffers from and his unwillingness to end the national division.”
In a press release on Sunday Qasem stressed that Abbas’s insistence on upholding his security cooperation with the Israeli occupation state and taking further separatist steps towards his rivals obstructs the Palestinian people’s struggle for freedom and independence.
“While Abbas is unable to confront the occupation and the American administration he resorts to threatening the people of the Gaza Strip with more punitive measures” the spokesman said.
In recent remarks Abbas threatened to take soon severe measures against Gaza claiming that there was a conspiracy by Hamas to disrupt the establishment of a Palestinian state.
