Four Palestinian factions criticized the decree issued by the Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas, appointing Muhammad Mustafa as the head of a new PA government, calling on the national forces, especially the Fatah movement, to take serious and effective action in order to manage this stage in a way that serves the Palestinian cause.

A joint statement, issued on Friday by Hamas, Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and the Palestinian National Initiative, stressed that the highest national priority now is to confront the Israeli aggression and war of genocide and starvation being waged against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, to confront the crimes of Israeli settlers in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, and to deter the Israeli plans of enforced displacement.

The factions said that the sole decision-making such as forming a new government lacking national consensus reinforces the policy of exclusivity, and deepens the internal division, while the Palestinians are currently in dire need for consensus and unity as well as the formation of a unified national leadership that would prepare for holding democratic elections with the participation of all factions representing the Palestinian people.

The four factions wondered about the feasibility of replacing the government and prime minister with alternatives of the same political and partisan environment.

The factions expressed their rejection of the Palestinian Authority’s persistence in its policy of exclusivity and ignoring national efforts to unite Palestinians in the face of the Israeli aggression.
