Palestinian injured by Israeli gunfire at Gaza border

A Palestinian young man was injured on Tuesday evening when the Israeli occupation forces opened fire at peaceful protesters east of Deir al-Balah city in the central Gaza Strip.

The PIC reporter quoted a medical source as saying that the Israeli forces heavily fired live ammunition and teargas canisters at dozens of Palestinian protesters east of Deir al-Balah.

Some of the protesters choked on teargas and were treated in the field the source added.

Palestinian youths in Deir al-Balah march in the evening every Tuesday at the border fence. Night demonstrations have been for weeks a major part of the Great March of Return which started on 30 March.

More than 225 Palestinians were killed and 22000 others were injured since the start of the border protests.

A Palestinian youth was injured on Sunday evening when the Israeli occupation forces (IOF) opened fire at peaceful demonstrators marching along Gaza’s border with the 1948 occupied Palestinian territories.

The PIC reporter said that the IOF heavily opened fire at a group of Palestinians near the border fence east of Gaza injuring a young man with a live bullet to the leg.

Night demonstrations along the border fence have recently become a major part of the Great March of Return in the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian youths during these demonstrations usually set fire to car tires fly fire kites over the border fence and sing national songs.

The Great March of Return since its start on 30 March has witnessed a large participation by the Palestinian citizens especially youths of the Gaza Strip. Despite being completely peaceful the border protests have been met with violence that caused dozens of deaths.
