Senior Islamic Jihad official Nafed Azzam has affirmed that the efforts to reach a truce agreement between Gaza and Israel are still ongoing adding that Egypt insists on addressing all outstanding issues in the Palestinian arena.
In an interview published by al-Estiqlal newspaper Azzam said that the major factions in Gaza were very close to reach an agreement alleviating the humanitarian suffering of the population accusing the Palestinian Authority (PA) leadership of thwarting the efforts in this regard.
“Unfortunately the [Palestinian] Authority has obstructed the efforts to reach a truce agreement and the justifications it gave in this regard were unacceptable and unreasonable” the Islamic Jihad official stated.
